Roulette Wheel

Posted by admin | Roulette Wheel | Thursday 22 January 2009 9:58 pm

The Roulette Wheel serves as our representation of a discrete Random Variable and consists of a single wheel or several concentric wheels. The basic tools used to construct a generic Roulette Wheel are described below. We begin with some general characteristics of the Roulette Wheel and then give a description of each of the side buttons. In general, the outermost wheel only is used to determine the value of the Random Variable. The size of each region and thus the probability associated with any given event can be adjusted by dragging the corresponding circle along the edge of the Roulette Wheel.

Any region of the wheel can be selected by simply clicking on it. The value of the region and it’s probability will be displayed in the “Region Controls” panel (see below). The arrow keys may also be used to change the currently selected region/wheel. You may spin the wheel by simply dragging the wheel to the left or right. As soon as the mouse leaves the Roulette Wheel, the wheel will begin to spin on its own. The faster you drag the mouse, the faster the wheel will spin.

Wheel Controls

  • Wheel Select: select from a number of pre-defined Roulette Wheels, including a Coin, a Die, a Pair of Dice, the Sum of Two Dice and two wheels representing the Monty Hall Problem
  • Insert: insert a new wheel immediately after the currently selected wheel.
  • Remove: remove the currently selected wheel.
  • Repeat: creates a new outermost wheel, representing an independent trial of the currently selected wheel, that is each region of the original outermost wheel is divided into regions according to the values and probabilities of the current wheel.
  • Total: creates a new outermost wheel; the value of each region is the sum of the values of the corresponding region of each of the other wheels.
  • Invert: reverses the order of the wheels while preserving the probabilities.
  • Simplify: combines regions of the Roulette Wheel that represent the same event, reading from the inner most wheel to the outermost wheel.
  • Spin: spin the Roulette Wheel; when the wheel stops spinning, the value of the Random Variable (determined by the value shown on the outermost wheel) and it’s corresponding probability is displayed in the “Region Controls” panel (see below). The value of the Random Variable is also recorded and the current histogram is updated accordingly.
  • Random: immediately produces a random value from the Roulette Wheel. This value is recorded and the current histogram is updated accordingly.

Region Controls

  • Insert: insert a new region immediately after (in the counterclockwise direction) the currently selected region.
  • Remove: remove the currently selected region.
  • Value: displays the value of the currently selected region; the value of the currently selected region can be changed by simply editing this field.
  • Probability Select: displays the Probability/Conditional Probability/Ratio of the currently selected region; “Probability” represents the probability that the wheel will land on that region of the wheel, “Conditional Probability” represents the probability that the wheel will land on the currently selected region of the wheel given that it lands on the corresponding region of the preceding wheel, “Ratio” represents the size of the currently selected region relative to that of the size of other regions of the wheel that correspond to the same region of the preceding wheel.
  • Color Select: choose from among several colors for the currently selected region; the color you select is purely for aesthetic reasons, except in the case of the color black; if the wheel lands on a black region of the outermost wheel, then the wheel will automatically spin again, see for example the “Monty Hall (Doesn’t Know)” wheel.

Roulette Online Tips

When you play roulette at an online casino, there should not be any doubt that compared to other games, learning it is a snap. It seems pretty straightforward, pick a number or pick a color, bet the money and spin. But in fact, at USA Casino and every other online casino out there, there is more to winning at roulette than meets the eye. If you are familiar with odds and mathematics, then roulette is a game that is sure to be easy to navigate for you at USA Casino. Of course, you needn’t be a math whiz to play online casino roulette, but knowing how the odds work for you at an online casino roulette wheel can help you to make that slot choice that could bring you the big winnings. Also, if you do not have a lot of money to wager with at an online casino and want the best chances for winning, without a doubt look for the roulette played in the European style at USA Casino, with a single-zero wheel instead of the American-style double-zero wheel bringing players better odds.

Here are some tips to win at Roulette

Tip #1 ——- Play the European version of Roulette

Most online casinos will offer both the American and European versions of roulette. The only excuse for not playing the standard European version is ignorance, because the American version produces a higher House Edge.  European roulette does not offer the 00 on the wheel, thereby taking one more bet out of the equation, and lowering the House Edge to approximately 2.6% - the lowest edge at the table.

Tip #2 ——- Place more even money bets than other wagers

The even money wagers will give the player the lowest House Edge at online roulette.   These are the Red/Black, High/Low and Even/Odd bets, which have a 50/50 chance of winning. With these bets, a 1.3% House Edge is obtainable, and will help a bankroll hold out longer with more positive return.  Additionally, it is only the even money bets that qualify for the “en prison” rule (see tip #3), which will bring the House Edge down even more.

Tip #3 ——- Play a roulette table that offers the en prison or la partage rule

With this rule in place, which not all casinos offer, (and so therefore is a subject worth looking into when picking an online casino to play roulette at) the House Edge can be brought down to 1.35%.  It states that when a 0 (and 00 for the American version) is landed by the roulette ball, all even money bets are not lost, but are rather afforded the opportunity to stay on the board for the next bet, or be taken back by the player.  In the long run, this rule can be the deciding factor on whether a player ends in the red or not.  It may not even come into play during a round of roulette.  However, the fact that it can be exercised is quite reassuring, made evident by a House Edge reduced by half.  Las partage, also called the Surrender rule, governs even money wagers in the same fashion, except that it returns half of the wager, thereby returning a 2.6% House Edge.

Tip #4 ——- Do not place the five-number bet

The five-number bet, simply put, gives a House Edge of 7.3%.  This is the highest casino advantage of any other roulette wager, and should always be avoided.  With 5 to 1 payout odds, a player is better off taking the 8 to 1 payout on a corner bet. As one can see, an approach to playing roulette can still be based on the numbers, as few as they might be.  The Casino advantage and odds still change from bet to bet, but do so in such a way that making a wise wager choice is easy to not second-guess oneself over.

Tip# 5—— Play the European Wheel

If given a choice between European and American Roulette remember the odds are more in your favor with the European Wheel. Playing the European wheel lowers the house edge to 2.63 percent.

Roulette Online Strategy

Posted by admin | Online, Roulette, Strategy | Thursday 22 January 2009 9:57 pm

Many people play online roulette by keeping a note of all the numbers that have come up in the previous games. However, the reality is online roulette strategy is just like biggest mistake which should be avoided.
The reason is simple. According of law of chance, each number average outs in the long run and applying online roulette strategy creates equal chance of each number dropping in. This ultimately leads the player keep betting on a single number repeatedly! Just one hope that even if a number that has been dropped 10,000 times can be a winner in the forthcoming game creates the trouble in the over all game.
Online roulette strategy is nothing but playing with profit and loss ratios, which can be a blessing in one moment and can be a curse in another moment. It is like the more you are expecting to gain, the more you should be ready to get into severe loss. Here is an example; placing five dollars on each spin where odds are running exact, then after 37 spins the player will be five dollars in loss. Betting for every $37 where it runs exactly to the odds, one ends up in getting only $36.There have been many people who claim that they have found some amazing strategy to beat the roulette table, but this just is not possible. The house has the advantage no matter what strategy you feel might win, so even if you do make a profit, overall you will lose. But roulette is not a game for someone who wants to make millions. Online Roulette is a slow, relaxing game and here are just some strategies that COULD lead to a short term win.

It has been observed that after winning so many times, it is tough for somebody to drag itself out of the roulette table. According to online roulette strategy, winning will end in losing if played continuously. However, this time is hard for a winner because after winning they have a thrust for more money, which is unreasonable. Things hardly work like that. It is very important that one must finish the online roulette session once they reach a certain level. Just making 5% of the total amount to lose on say, red or black can make it. One must also know how to use a good online roulette strategy. The roulette table is split into three rows i.e. from 1-34, 2-35, and 3-36. The last row of 3-36 has eight red numbers and four black numbers. Now the strategy comes in placing one chip on red and two chips on first row of 1-34 and two chips on the second row 2-35. This is how, strategy works! It is always recommended to stick with the relatively safe online roulette strategy in case of losing a predetermined amount and willing to win at least half of it. One must be prepared for taking risks in playing roulette online otherwise expecting to win every time can make online roulette experience as the worst nightmare. That is why it is always suggested to base online roulette strategy for a longer plan.

It is not that online roulette strategy is difficult to understand. In fact, it is one of the easiest games to play and understand in gambling casino. It is just that one should understand the basic contents of the roulette wheel, and then strategy is easy to apply. For example, one must know that in United States its double zero in place of zero. One should also know the difference between gambling roulette and other table games. Roulette chips have no denomination printed on them and the value of a chip is technically termed as ‘check’. Taking Considering these little details will definitely make applying online roulette strategy a useful experience. The following table displays the probability of winning on a U.S.A Roulette wheel. All casinos in the U.S.A follow these rules except for in Atlantic City. The house edge on all bets is 1/19, or 5.26%, except for one bet. The exception is the 0-00-1-2-3 combination, which carries a house edge of 7.89% which means dont use it.

Roulette Online Betting

Posted by admin | Roulette Online Betting | Thursday 22 January 2009 9:57 pm

By far, the most difficult aspect to learn with roulette is the various betting odds and strategies. For this explanation, all of the odds and bets will be based on the European version of the game. For starters, a basic breakdown of the wheel is necessary to understand the different bets. The roulette wheel contain pockets marked from 0 to 36. The number pockets from 1 - 36 are colored red and black and alternate from one to the next. The number 1 begins with red. The 0 pocket is colored green. The American version contains an extra green-colored 0, which is numbered 00. In the game, a player has the option of betting on numbers, colors, groups, odds and evens. The most basic bet in roulette is the single number bet. To bet, a player must place a wager on the green felt-covered table that has all of the roulette betting options. A single number bet has a payout of 35:1. The groups involve betting on the columns and rows on the table. The row bets pay 11:1, except for the 00 row. The 00 row, which is made up of the 0 and 00 pockets, pays 17:1. The column groupings, the most commonly wagered upon, have a payout of 2:1. There is the option called the five number bet, in which a player can pick any five numbers on the board, this pays 6:1.

Betting options in Roulette

Beyond these bets, all of the other wagers in roulette payout 1:1. These include betting on the odd number, the even numbers, the colors red and black, and the two groupings divided into 1-18 and 19-16. Once you’ve mastered all of the betting options, you’re well on your way to becoming a roulette betting pro. This bet is akin to lottery or keno.  The wager is made by placing chips on any one of the thirty-five numbered boxes, zero or double-zero.  If the rolling ball lands on the corresponding number of the wheel, the bet wins. Straight-up bet payout odds are 35:1.

Split
The split wager is made by mouse-clicking a chip on the line separating any two numbers.  It is predicting that one of the two adjacent numbers will be landed by the ball in the wheel.  Split bet payout odds are 17:1.

Street
This bet covers one of the twelve columns, also called streets, composed of three numbers in numeric order.  It is predicting that one of the three numbers in the chosen ’street’ will be hit be landed by the rolling ball.  The bet is made by placing chips on the horizontal line separating the outside bet boxes from the first column of numbers, centered with the first number of the desired row or street.  Street bet payout odds are 11:1.

Corner
This bet covers four numbers at one time.  The bet is made by mouse-clicking a chip(s) on the common corner of four boxes, which is the centermost point between all four boxes.  The bet wins if the ball settles in any one of the four  numbered slots corresponding to the box values.  Corner bet payout odds are 8:1.

Line
The line bet covers six consecutively adjacent boxes in numeric order.  It predicts that any one of the six chosen numbered boxes will by landed by the ball in the wheel.  To place the bet, chips are set on the line dividing the first column of outside bet boxes from the first column of numbered boxes starting with 1 and ending with 34.  On this line, the chip is placed where a single line dividing two numbered rows intersects with it.  For instance, the numbers 7 through 12 are bet by placing a chip on the bottommost common point between the number 7 and 10 and the line of the “1st Twelve” box.  Line bet payout odds are 5:1.

Five-Number
As the name says, this is a bet covering five numbers - the 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3.  It is made by placing a chip(s) on the outside left corner point of the line separating the 0 and the 1.  This bet is also called the House Special, which is ironic, considering it has a very high House Edge.

Roulette Online Rules

Posted by admin | Roulette Online Rules | Thursday 22 January 2009 9:56 pm

The Rules of Online Roulette are rather easy to learn, but you must be familiar with the roulette rules before placing any bets. The first thing you should know is how the table minimum works. If the table you are playing at has a $5 minimum, you are required to place $5 on each of your outside bets, and/or at least $5 in total on your inside bets (see the Roulette Glossary below). So if you play red, odd, you must place the table minimum for each and every bet. But you could place 5 $1 bets on 5 completely different inside bets.

Roulette Glossary

The Outside Bets
An outside bet on a roulette board is simply that the bets are placed ‘outside’ of the main playing area of 38 numbers. There are no winning outside bets for 0 or 00 results. These are the different types of outside bets:

Red or Black: you can choose to bet on the ball landing on either being a red or black number. Place this bet right in the area with the words ‘red’ and ‘black’ or just the colors red and black. This is a very common form of roulette betting, as it is easy to understand that you have almost half a chance of winning.

Odd or Even : Even or Odd money bet, as the name depicts is based on whether the number will be odd or even. Since 0 does not count as either, there are 36 numbers, an even count between odd and even. Place this bet by putting your chips in the middle of the square marked ‘even’ or the square marked ‘odd’.

Low or high: Place this bet if you think the next number to come up will range from 1 to 18, or range from 19 to 36. This is an even money bet. To place this bet put your chips in the boxes with the associated number range printed in them.

Columns: At one end of the 38 numbers are boxes with the words ‘2 to 1′. Each box is part of a column of numbers. If one of the numbers within the column come up you are paid 2 to 1.

Dozens : Very similar to the columns bet, the dozens bet lets you place a bet on either the first dozen numbers (1-12), the second dozen (13-24), or the third dozen (25-36). The Dozens bet pays 2 to 1.

The Inside Bets
The inside bets are made up of specific numbers or combinations of numbers within the number layout. Remember, the total of all of your bets must add up to at least the table minimum bet for that table.

Straight-up bet : Choose any one of the 38 numbers and put your chips down on that number will give you a chance to win at 35 to 1.

Split bet : you can place a single bet on two adjacent numbers. To do so put your chips down on the line between them. Pays 17 to 1.

Street bet : Allows you to bet on three different numbers with the same bet. You can do this by placing chips on the outside of the row of numbers you want to bet on. This bet pays 11 to 1.

Corner bet: another combination wager, the corner bet lets you bet on four numbers simultaneously. Placing your chips at the point where four numbers meet will indicate you want a corner bet. Pays 8 to 1.

Five number bet: This is a five number bet which is the only one available. To make this bet place your chips at the intersection of 0 and 1 on the corner. You can win if a 0, 00, 1, 2, or 3 are hit. Pays 6 to 1.

Roulette Online History

Posted by admin | Roulette Online History | Thursday 22 January 2009 9:56 pm

The history of roulette is one that can be explained in a few paragraphs, but still covers many countries of the world. A mathematician named Blaise Pascal invented roulette in the French 17th century, which was over three hundred years ago. In 1842, there was another two Frenchmen named Francois and Louis Blanc who added the “0″ to the roulette wheel in order to increase house odds. Increasing the house odds means that the gambler will win less often. Roulette was introduced to the U.S. in the 1800’s with the addition of the second 0 in order to increase the house odds even further, so the gambler will win even less often. In the coming years, Roulette spread all over Europe and the U.S. making it one of the most famous casino games, such as it is today. Some consider roulette the “King of the Casino Games” because it was associated with the casinos in Monte Carlo which has a great number of roulette wheels of all variants. Francois Blanc established the first casinos in Monte Carlo and allegedly bargained with the devil to obtain the secrets of roulette. This statement comes from the fact that when you add up all the numbers on a roulette wheel they equal “666” which is reported as representing the devil. Many people do not believe in this theory but there are gamblers who do.Roulette or “small wheel” in french, is the most popular game of chance in the world. But the exact history of Roulette is unknown although there are theories. One is that the game was invented in China and brought to Europe by Dominican monks who in those days were trading with the Chinese. The second is that a man named Blaise Pascal, a 17th Century French mathematician, invented the game.

There are two versions of the Roulette Casino Game. The single “0″ Roulette game, known as European Roulette, was developed in 1842 by Frenchmen Francois and Louis Blanc to create a more winnable game but as gambling was illegal in France during this time, the game came onto the scene in Hamburg, Germany where it grew in popularity. Later, it is said that Francois and his son Camille brought the game back to southern France for the Prince of Monaco, Charles III and the amazing resort of Monte Carlo was born. Roulette hit America in the early 1800s, but they removed the double “00″ resulting in American Roulette , which of course made the advantage push over to the house. As gambling became legal throughout France, the game of Roulette remained restricted to Monte Carlo. That was until 1933 and this ensured both Monte Carlo Casino and the game of Roulette an extremely popular Casino Game. Online Roulette as we know it today first surfaced on the Internet in the mid-1990s. Undoubtedly, the game today is as popular among players online as it is in land-based casinos.

Roulette is one of the most popular games played in modern Casinos. It is also one of the oldest Casino games. Roulette is somewhat unique amongst modern table games in that it employs a mechanical device as the key element of the game. The mechanical device is the large and very distinct Roulette wheel that is mounted horizontally on the end of the table. The hollow of the wheel has numbered pockets ranging from 0 to 36 - and 00 in American Style Roulette. In Roulette the bets are placed on an area of the table marked with separate boxes, with each box containing individual numbers. This marked area is called the game layout, and you may place bets on any particular number, any 4 adjacent numbers, a column or a dozens bet.

The wheel is used to determine the outcome of a game of Roulette. Once the bets have been placed on the table, the wheel is set to start spinning and a small - usually metal or ivory - ball is spun onto the wheel in the opposite direction to that of the spinning wheel. The ball will lose speed and eventually stop in one of the numbered pockets in the Roulette wheel. The number the ball stops on is the winning number. Roulette is a very popular gambling game. In this game, a croupier turns a round roulette wheel that has 37 or 38 numbered pockets in which a ball must land, and the ball will land in one of these pockets every time. The main pockets are number from 1 to 36 and these pockets of the wheel will alternate with black and red, starting with a red number 1. On this wheel, there are also two more components, one with a 0 and the other with a 00. While playing the game of roulette, if a player bets on a single number and wins the payouts are 35 to 1, which can be a large amount of money. The initial bet is returned and so in total it is multiplied by 36, if you are betting a dollar, you will win thirty-six dollars. If a player bets ten dollars, a return of three hundred sixty dollars will be the payout. When playing this game, you can bet on numbers, combinations, ranges, and colors.
